I am TOTALLY stoked right now so bear w/ me! I know this is common practice for most of you guys BUT I finally overcame my fear and handled a dam god Tarantula! YEHAW! I just got outta my buds store from dropping off an order, AND decided to hold a Rosey (fearing for my life LOL!)... Yeah so what right, a small bite and I can say I tried! Either way, he was a peach and let me pick him up, handle him, AND get the closest look at a T that I ever have (would have been well worth the hairing OR bite if he decided to do so). I was hooked! Getting such an intimate look at a large spider was a priveledge! From that point my buddy figured I'm out of my mind and let me clean a Brazlian White Knee. NOW a couple weeks ago I would have tried to handle this skiddish creature but thanks to all of you and your information.... I "cupped" him and cleaned up his cage! I was pretty psyched! He didn't hair me or nothing! But good god was he quick... or so I thought... Next up, and I swear I'm not joking, my buddy was not comfortable gathering up a 6-8" Bird Eater. Not sure what the exact size was but this spider was formedible! WOW! Biggest darn spider I've seen. I'll get a pic on my BBerry tomorrow and see if I can post it. Don't count out that I love wildlife so much I'm dumb enough to handle this sucker (inside it's cage so it doesn't get hurt) to show the size. Either way, male or female it was a peach. I tapped it on the rump and boom, it went into it's BIG cup. We cleaned it out, released it and from what I saw it was happy as a clam!
I've overcome a HUGE fear tonight by handling a T'. and I'm diggin' Tarantulas people! I swear to you.... I'm diggin' Tarantulas! What great animals! YEAH! I'm totally ready to jump into this hobby and learn about the species, AND oneday hopefully have enough knowledge to teach people who don't understand Tarantulas just like me! Oh YEAH!
